Sales Report Days Two and Three

We are delighted to have bought four horses so far at the Goffs UK sales; three store three year olds and a point to point mare.

Our Monday purchases both by Malinas, were joined on Tuesday by the strong grey French-bred Monochromix by Morandi out of Lunamix. He has been bought by Michael and Lady Jane Kaplan and having a dam line full of winners bodes well for the future.

I am very pleased with the three stores; we wanted horses with size and scope to be chasers, who moved well and who had black type pedigrees. All three fulfill those requirements and have been well produced, looking ready to be broken and start some pre-training.

The two Malinas geldings are for sale; I will post them on the FOR SALE pages, please have a look at their pedigrees and let me know if you would like to come and see them, or to see some more photographs and videos of them.

Today was the day for the horses with form, both under rules and in British and Irish point to points. Paul is a wizard at the form and he had a long list of twenty which was narrowed down to five after viewing and vetting. We bid on all and were successful for a quality mare who should be exciting with plenty of decent opportunities for mares races.

Named appropriately BEAUTE NOIR the pure black five year old is by Arcadio a German bred sire who produces stayers with a bit of sharpness. Incidentally, German sires cannot stand if they have had any wind operations; poor larynx conformation is a heritable trait so we particularly like the German sires.

Back to our new mare; very athletic she impressed us in her debut point to point when she made up ground quickly and cruised into the lead coming to the last. Greenness and a spook before the last caused a sideways jump causing her to lose ground but she set off determinedly again to run down the winner to just over a length on the short run in. Reassuringly the form has been franked with the third placed horse winning on her next start and the winner coming third this evening in a two mile novice hurdle, beaten by a couple of lengths.

Beaute Noir will be perfect for the mares races and is for sale; she could be an exciting horse for her new owners and with a good pedigree, from the family of Ansum, Sh Boom and Jazilah she will retain her value as a broodmare in time.
